Stones Jewelry’s 23rd Annual Colored Gem Show is just around the corner, November 5th – 7th, and we have just confirmed something extra special for the day.
For nearly 30 years, our own Hillary Black’s mother, Marsha Fredrickson, has been designing custom and special-order pieces for Stones Jewelry. Having just moved to the area from Minneapolis, Marsha will be in-store Friday morning to assist with all of your jewelry design needs.
“The Gem Show is my favorite time of year at the shop,” says Marsha. “It’s always so wonderful to meet with people face to face and help them decide how best to display their new colored gemstone. You get a real sense of their style, their tastes and what they aim to do: whether its accent a new stone all on its own, or incorporate diamonds and gems from inherited jewelry. These are some of the most sentimental pieces — people who find ways to use jewelry from loved ones or special occasions, creating a new pieces that accentuate the beauty of the old.”
“My history with Stones Jewelry goes way back. I remember when my brother in law, David Petti, called and asked if I would consider doing some design work for the store — I was thrilled. I loved having an opportunity to be a part of the family business even though we were living in Minnesota. My fathers brother was a jeweler in LA and one of his daughters was doing their design work. Initially, I went out and worked under her to learn the ‘tools of the trade’. That was nearly 30 years ago and I have enjoyed being a part of making something special for people ever since.”
If you’d like to meet with Marsha to discuss a custom piece or design questions, stop in the morning of Friday, November 6th, or schedule an appointment by phone or web. If you’re unsure of exactly what you’d like to do with your stones, Marsha will typically provide three different sketches to give you a variety of options and ideas. And should you just be interested in Marsha’s completed works, she will have new pieces available for purchase at the show, as well.
We can’t wait to see you there!
